Photo sessions involve more planning than most people realize — and that’s where I come in to help! To make sure you look and feel your absolute best on the day of your shoot, here are a few beauty prep appointments to consider scheduling ahead of time:
Haircut & Color
Schedule 1-2 weeks before
A fresh style can do wonders for your confidence! Just avoid any major changes right before your session. Giving yourself a little time allows your color to settle and offers wiggle room for adjustments if needed.
Eyebrow or Lip Wax
Schedule 5-7 days before
This gives your skin time to recover in case of sensitivity, redness, or breakouts — so you’ll look fresh and photo-ready.
Manicure & Pedicure
Schedule 1-3 days before
Your hands (and sometimes feet) will be in the photos — give them some love! Whether you go full mani/pedi or just clean and filed, it makes a difference. Pro tip: Choose timeless polish shades like clear, soft pinks, or a classic French to complement your wardrobe.
Hair & Make-Up
Schedule at least 4 hours before your session
Whether you're working with a pro or doing it yourself, give yourself plenty of time — and don’t forget to factor in family prep and travel time. Feeling relaxed and unrushed is key!
Grooming Tips for Him
1-2 days before
A clean haircut is great, but don’t forget the details — trim beards, clip nails, and do a quick check for stray nose or ear hairs. Small things make a big impact in close-up shots.
Skip the Spray Tan
Spray tans often photograph orange or uneven — even when they look fine in person. If you love a sun-kissed glow, go for the real deal. Minor tan lines? No problem — I can touch those up in post.
Undergarment Must-Haves
Not exactly a beauty tip, but still essential! Bring nude, seamless underwear and a strapless bra — especially important for maternity sessions or if you’re using pieces from my studio wardrobe. These ensure clean lines and a polished look.
Questions? I’m always here to help you feel your best before and during the session. Can’t wait to capture these memories for you!
