This creative session was inspired by watching the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. The stunning, imaginative wings that graced the runway were absolutely exquisite, and I couldn’t help but hope we could create something just as magical in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Diana took the idea and ran with it, truly excelling in the final piece. I also wanted to incorporate a burlesque-inspired look into the session, as it beautifully complemented the feminine essence of the shoot while adding a captivating performance element.

We collaborated closely, bouncing ideas back and forth while finalizing the wardrobe pieces. Then it was my turn to pull everything together, bringing in the lighting and set design to fully realize the vision.

I’ve had Mylar (the material used as the backdrop) in the studio for quite some time, but I’d only used it a handful of times, typically for a water-reflective lighting effect.

While searching for inspiration, I came across a post where the material was scrunched up and taped onto foam boards, creating an incredibly intricate texture.

Knowing Diana was bringing a silver sequin dress, and after finding the most amazing headpiece on Amazon, I realized this would be the perfect combination for the set.

Adding color gels to the lights truly elevated the overall look, taking it to the next level.

As Diana changed into her next outfit, it was my cue to make a few subtle adjustments to the setup for a more classic Valentine’s look. I kept the lighting arrangement the same, simply swapping out the color gels to transform the mood.

For the final (and most anticipated) outfit, I purchased a Sparkle Foil Tinsel Fringe Curtain Backdrop to create a distinct shift from the previous setup while still maintaining the reflective quality of the foil.

I also wanted to maintain the performer-inspired concept, but with a more refined, elegant approach. The curtain created an onstage atmosphere, and I truly feel we were able to capture that essence beautifully.

And then came the true centerpiece of the entire session, capturing the breathtaking wings in all their glory. This was the moment we had been building toward. Talk about bringing a fabulous Cupid to life. There was something powerful and almost cinematic about seeing the full look come together on set.

Diana absolutely nailed every detail. The structure of the wings was beautifully engineered, holding their shape while still feeling light and ethereal. The pattern work added depth and dimension, drawing your eye across every curve and contour.

Under the lights, the colors intensified and reflected just enough to add drama without overpowering the softness of the design. It was bold, feminine, and commanding all at once, the perfect balance of strength and romance.

This look didn’t just complete the session; it defined it.
